Critical Thinking
During my senior year at AMES a good example of a project that required me to use critical thinking was an essay where I looked at how the author of the book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, Mark Haddon, used the literary tool of creating a story within the main plot-line of his original story. This is a useful tool in writing because it enables you to portray a story or a side to the story that the main character doesn't see or know about. The reason this exemplifies critical thinking is that, as an analyst, I had to discern what the separate story was and how Haddon used his writing to place this story into his novel without it becoming absolutely apparent to the reader that it was actually present.
